If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.

—I John 15:10

To keep the commandments of our Master and follow his example, is our proper debt to him and the only worthy evidence of our gratitude for all that he has done.

GOLDEN TEXT

Psalms. 65:2, 3 as

O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come. . . . as for our transgressions, thou shalt purge them away.

RESPONSIVE READING

Leviticus 16:2 (to ;), 3, 16 (to :); Hebrews 10:1 the, 4; 9:11, 12; 13:15 therefore

Lev. 16:2   And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the veil before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark;
3   Thus shall Aaron come into the holy place: with a young bullock for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering.
16  And he shall make an atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions in all their sins:
Heb. 10:1  . . . the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
4  For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
9:11  But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
12  Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
13:15  . . . therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.
